OpenPreview

Read. Inspect. Compare.

A quiet native workspace for Markdown, JSON, and text on your Mac.

One place for your documents

OpenPreview brings your files together in tabs. Read Markdown with headings, tables, lists, and code blocks. Switch to source whenever you want a closer look.

Make structure visible

Inspect JSON as source, formatted text, or an expandable tree. Formatting a view does not overwrite the file you opened.

See what changed

Right-click a tab to open a horizontal or vertical split. With different files in the two panes, use the comparison button to see text additions and deletions. The left or top pane is the reference.

Keep control of your edits

Documents open read-only. Press Command-E to edit and Command-S to save. Search the current document with Command-F, or all open files with Control-Command-F.

Local work, optional connections

Parsing, search, and comparison run on your Mac without an account. Remote images are loaded only after you interact and allow them. External links open in your browser or mail app.
