Shotsort
Find any screenshot by what's written in it — without a single image leaving your phone.
The problem
You take a screenshot because you mean to do something with it later: buy the thing, book the table, remember the address, find the recipe again. Then it drops into a camera roll with a thousand others and you never see it again. Searching by date doesn't help, because you don't remember the date — you remember a word that was on the screen.
What Shotsort does
It reads the text in every screenshot on your iPhone and builds a searchable index of it. Type a word you remember seeing, and the shots that contain it come back with that word highlighted.
- Search the words, not the filename. Every screenshot is read with Apple's on-device text recognition. Type “refund” and the receipt comes back.
- Eight categories, sorted for you. Receipts, links, addresses, recipes, chats, code, tickets and everything else. No swiping through them one by one.
- Clean out the pile. Three piles to review: shots you've never opened again (taken over a month ago, never opened in Shotsort, never edited or favourited since), retakes of the same screen taken within a minute of each other, and tickets whose date has passed. You go through each one item by item, and every removal goes through the system Photos prompt — nothing is deleted behind your back.
- Widgets. A medium one that opens straight into search, a small one showing how many shots you've never looked at again, and a circular one for the Lock Screen.
- Nothing is uploaded. No account, no server, no analytics. Shotsort works in airplane mode, because there is nothing for it to talk to.
Requirements
iPhone, iOS 26 or later.
Smart categories need iPhone 15 Pro or newer, with Apple Intelligence turned on.
Search, cleanup and the widgets work on every supported iPhone.
